So I passed all my exams, and with alright grades, too. They only lowered my overall average a tiny bit - I'm still within the 1st grade scale. Keep up the good work, me :=)
I've got other news which aren't quite as good, kinda personal as well, but since not that many people read this blog anyway, and only people that I don't mind knowing this, I'm gonna write about it here.
I had an epileptic seizure (grand mal) on Saturday, for the first time in almost 4 years (some of you may remember when I had the last one, on August 17th 2005, during my first Higher German class at JGHS! Embarrassing...). I was at my place, alone, so I can't be 100% sure, but judging from the bruises on my head and legs, and the fact that one moment I was getting out of the shower and the next I was waking up, disoriented, lying on the bathroom floor, I'm pretty sure it was a seizure. After coming to my senses, I dragged myself to my bed and passed out again for about 30 minutes or so. When I woke up for the second time, I realised what had happened, called my mother and she came over immediately, took me home and pampered me for the rest of the day. I'm still not sure if the head- and stomach ache was because of the seizure and the fall, or if it was just hangover... probably a mixture of both. Not a nice mixture, I tell you!
Having been diagnosed with epilepsy more than 7 years ago, I am pretty sure in my diagnosis that the reason I had a seizure now was a) I stayed up until 5.30 am (I think) and only slept for 6 hours, b) had one too many cocktails on Friday night, and c) took a nap during the day because of tiredness, thereby breaking my routine. I blame myself entirely. Routine is really important, and obviously not mixing strong alcohol with the meds. I guess it's just been so long since the last time I had a seizure, that I didn't really expect that I'd ever have one again, even though last year I had an EEG which indicated some kind of epileptic waves in my brain and I can't quit taking my meds. This was a proper reality check!
It is lucky that I actually already had booked an appointment with my neurologist tomorrow, which was supposed to be just an annual check-up, letting her know I'm still fine, but now I guess I have some news for her!
Anyway, that's all for now. And just so you know, I really am doing fine, it's no more likely that I'll have another seizure any time soon, seeing as how in my epileptic history many months usually pass between seizures (in this case, almost 4 years!), but I will be taking extra precautions nonetheless (choir people, don't expect me to be drinking next weekend on our trip!).
